Are you looking for a chair to play with and don’t like gamer types? 5 desk chairs that we recommend
There is only one body, and it is our responsibility to look after him as best we can throughout our lives. We gamers do not engage in activities that could put us in imminent danger, but we tend to systematically ignore the “silent killer” bad posture Through our lives for hours and hours. Those who play in their living room, accompanied by their armchairs or sofas, may have to worry less about it, but those who enjoy their leisure in front of the desk, especially when their productive side also takes place on a chair, can come in. under this “risk” profile that involves neglecting our position. To fix it, in addition to a good posture habit, a good fit is usually necessary on which we can spend our hours of comfortable play, which we can only achieve with the right chair.
For most gamblers, this is done by purchasing one of the usual “Gaming chairs” that populate the market, many of which are really useful for this purpose, but who because of their aesthetics or because of the benefits they are usually focused on, they don’t have to be for everyone. With the aim of helping the gamers who play on the desktop and deny these market options, we have prepared this buying guide in which we will see different models, whether to play, study or work, but always from our desktop.
Our favorite models
Image: Ikea.
Those who remember may remember that in our last buying guide dedicated to this piece of furniture we included models designed “to play with” as well as others intended for less fun scenarios, but are equally common in our daily life. From this text almost a year ago, and all the models listed still seem interesting to us today; However, in order not to leave two similar lists – and to be able to talk about other models with some property with almost a year – we have a good part of the furniture renovated of which we spoke there. The new list with only one member reviewing the show is as follows.
Flintan from Ikea
Let’s start with the model that we believe will be the most attractive to most of the readers interested in this text. It’s about the Flintan from Ikea, a simple and functional desk chair that is characterized by a good price-performance ratio. The furniture itself has a single height-adjustable foot, a well-built metal base with good finishes on which the chair itself rests, with a slightly less careful construction but perfectly suited for everyday use without fear of its durability. The backrest is of an acceptable size and is meshed so as not to strain the lower back when using the furniture, as well as the ability to recline it easily. Apart from that, the chair itself has no other extras, in fact the armrests have to be bought separately, but it still seems like a very attractive option to us.
Amoiu office chair
We continue with an office model that, like the simple Ikea chair with which we opened the text, we particularly like because of its good price-performance ratio; although in this case that price is increased to provide some additional benefit. The model is the standard office chair from Amoiu, a European brand with the certifications of Associations such as BIFMA or SGS, two companies completely focused on office supplies and their benefits. As we expect, this model is similar at the construction level to the model we highlighted earlier, but has a better workmanship of the armchair, more upholstery and interesting extras in relation to the Flintan, such as its lumbar support, its high armrests fixed or your upper headrest; All in all, it seems to us a very complete model in this price range and an important improvement over the one we highlighted in our last buying guide.
Markus from Ikea
This is the second and last chair from the well-known Swedish shop, which is also one of its most famous models; It’s about the Markus from Ikea, a highly recognizable chair for its form factor and good performance, which, although less attractive now than in the past, is still one of our favorites due to the relative lack of inventory and its price increase compared to when it was launched. Much of the blame for this is in the construction of this chair with a reinforced metal base and a firm and adaptable structure topped by a large and high back, which makes this model an ideal choice for those who are taller than average. It is not without problems, especially in this price range, where we are already asking for some additional extras, such as finding height-adjustable armrests; but despite everything, it’s an excellent option for its price.
Sihoo M82C
A step above the well-known Markus, both in price and performance, would be this ergonomic option from Sihoo, an Asian brand with a low-key but interesting catalog, of which this is our favorite option. The main reason for this, and the reason we’re placing this model right after the Ikea option, is because of its tremendous adjustability; everything in it is conform, from the height of the armrests, over the neck support, over the seat spacing and the lumbar support. It has a solid metal construction for its base, while the seat and body of the chair are made of material with metal reinforcements. It has no padding, but opts for a sturdy mesh that we will appreciate for its breathability in hot weather.
Diablo V-Dynamic
To complete this list, we’re going to bet big and add a model that, while certainly out of the reach of many, represents everything we seek in a comfortable desk chair that can serve us for our leisure and productivity in front of the desk; we would talk about them Diablo V-Dynamic, the “intermediate series” of the Polish brand. If we ignore the price – a tough job we know – we are faced with the most complete model on this list, built around a reinforced metal base that holds the adjustable base for the headquarters, with a flexible, mesh-lined base Construction. which merges into the backrest of the furniture itself, which has a height and depth adjustment for the lumbar support and the backrest itself as well as the headrest. As with the previous model, everything is adjustable, which makes this chair, together with its construction and use, an ideal model for everyone who is looking for and can afford a desk chair.
The ideal chair for playing at the desk
We previously talked about what an “ideal position” for us to play is, our text on consoles is one of the last examples of this we have given; But in order not to leave this new guide to this statement as an orphan, we’ll quickly talk about it again.
According to US OSHA, a desk or other intense activity needs to put us in a comfortable position where we have all of the tools and peripherals of the same without getting up from our chair, especially our keyboard, which we need to access without the Always having to stretch arms without lifting them past the waist at a right angle. If we have a monitor – in our case it does – it has to be attached at a safe distance at eye level, slightly inclined, to facilitate posture.
To achieve all of this, especially if we don’t have a height-adjustable desk, the ideal would be to get a chair that is over maximum adjustability Both the height and the position of the seat and backrest are possible in order to maintain this “ideal posture” regardless of the characteristics of our desk. In other words, for us the ideal chair is one that:
- It allows us to regulate its heightto keep your arms in a vertical position at a 90 ° angle in front of the desk.
- Have adjustable armreststhat they allow us to place our arms so that we don’t have to force our wrists while we are working or playing freely.
- Count with one ergonomic backrest, preferably with lumbar support to rest the body. The models with an incline are preferred.
- It has the right depth for your seat, or let us adjust it as we wish to suit these needs.
