Our favorite keyboards to play this year 2021 for under 50 euros
We use the recent beginning of the year 2021 to start our annual renewal of the buying guide. How could it be otherwise, after the turnaround in controllers for our computers and the best mice to play with that we can get under 50 euros – in our opinion – we have to focus on the eternal companion of the desktop rodent: Computer keyboard, an accessory that we will address in the same price range of 50 euros.
The last time we examined these peripherals exclusively was in the middle of last year, and that with a margin of 100 euros. This time it will be different with a smaller margin price, the result of our new focus on buying guides that are more focused on segmenting into areas of these types of common peripherals.
This is how we come to the new list that we have prepared for this year 2021, with six models that we think are particularly noteworthy, either for their construction, their characteristics or their price, compared to the other proposals available on the market.
Our favorite gaming keyboards
As in our last guide on mice, the list is not ordered by price or features of the models in question; We like all of the keyboards shown on a more or less similar level, and given the general usefulness of these devices, we can’t speak of a purpose in recommending them, so we decided to list them in a messy – but succinct way. – Statement of the reasons why we chose them in each of the models listed:
VicTsing gaming keyboard
A membrane keyboard full of qualities at a ridiculous price
We open the list with the most economical model of it. For those gamers who want an inexpensive, feature-rich keyboard and don’t mind the membrane, VicTsing’s “gaming” keyboard is perhaps one of the best options right now.
This keyboard has a good structure -Especially for its price- with a metal plate that reinforces the plastic structure of the model, configurable lighting, multimedia options and good usability in games for a price of less than 25 euros, which is why we think it is a better option than our previous one, an affordable recommendation , Pictek’s generic mechanical keyboard that now seems particularly hard to come by for a price below that $ 25.
Redragon K552 Kumara RGB
Our favorite mechanical keyboard for under 50 euros
the Redragon Kumara It is our preferred mechanical keyboard under 50 euros, a privileged position that it held last year and that it will hold during this period until we find another model that offers the same features at a lower price, or this model at its excellent price loses.
If we focus on the keyboard itself, we are talking about a TKL model -without the numeric keyboard- made of plastic, with a metal plate that gives it good strength and a better feel when operating the switches a variation of the Otemu Blue, an inexpensive alternative to the usual Cherry MX that does a good job in our eyes. We also find a version with the same variation of these switches in their red “taste”, which are more palatable to many to play, but we are more convinced of the audible clicks.
Razer Cynosa Lite
A simplified version of a good membrane keyboard
Without leaving the range in membrane keypads, one of our favorite options now that it seems to be regularly at a lower price is the one Razer Cynosa Lite; a feature-rich model from the three-headed viper brand, which we can regularly get in the range between 30-40 euros, although this is currently not the case.
For this price, we get a complete keyboard with dynamic RGB lighting from Razer, which we can also configure and synchronize using the exclusive software. Even if it a membrane keyboard, surprised us by the effectiveness of its rail mechanism, which tries to simulate the stability of a conventional mechanical switch and remains halfway between the two proposals. It won’t be a comfortable feeling for mechanical keyboard purists, especially if they’re used to the stroke of a mechanical switch, but for those who don’t find this appealing, this may be the best option today.
Krom Kernel TKL
A complete keyboard with mechanical switches at a great price
the Krom kernel It has appeared on our lists of inexpensive keyboards for a long time, and the more time goes by and the more its price drops, the easier it is to make this recommendation. There are other options in its price range that could compete with it, some of which are on this list, but for those looking for a functional mechanical keyboard at a discounted price, it remains one of the undisputed options.
Speaking of the characteristics of the keyboard itself, the version highlighted here is the “TKL”, although the full version can also be found at a very similar price. It has a simple plastic construction and conventional RGB backlighting with a few special modes.
HyperX alloy core RGB
One of the best built membrane keypads on the market
As the last non-mechanical model on this list, we have this HyperX alloy core RGB, a complete keyboard which, if we can find it at the current price of 49.99 euros, appears to us to be one of the most interesting foil-based options in its price range.
The main reason for this is feature rich We present the Alloy Core, which is equipped with eye-catching configurable RGB lighting, special multimedia keys and a robust plastic construction. The model feels good in normal use, even if it is not a mechanical model, a property given by the individual rail it uses for each of its buttons; But like the Cynosa Lite we highlight above, if you’re looking for a mechanical experience, you won’t find it here. although you can get a very competent model that makes us feel good.
A compact keyboard with interchangeable switches
To conclude this list, we repeat the recommendation from our previous list; Because for the price at which we can still find this model, it seems to us to be one of the best options right now, currently under 50 euros, despite getting this Geek GK61 At this price we cannot fall back on national purchasing portals.
This is a compact form factor keyboard that optical switches -to choose between several “flavors” available in each of its buttons; Its construction is very correct, made of reinforced ABS plastic and with configurable buttons so as not to lose any functionality despite its size. We emphasize, of course, that this is a model in the American ANSI format, so it does not have our beloved letter Ñ and will therefore not be to everyone’s taste; In addition, it is only regularly available on the Banggood portal, so it arrives a little late in Germany, but the shipping costs usually remain below our budget limit, which is why it appears here.
What does a gaming keyboard offer for less than 50 euros?
In contrast to the desktop mouse when gaming, the direct influence that one keyboard has over another on what is happening on the screen, so to speak very limited. Regardless of the price of the models selected, most keyboards will do the job well enough. And yet there are many gamers who invest in mechanical keyboards, elaborate models and other extras that tend to increase the price of these peripherals compared to what a conventional Logitech K120, for example, could offer us. Why is this happening? We tried to answer this question from the perspective of mechanical keyboards in one of our previous texts and came to the conclusion that the general motive is consistency and extras; but this reason can vary from one player to another.
In the price range we are now moving in, we would say that the main reason for choosing one of these models compared to the above-mentioned Logitech or other simple Office versions is also the additional functionality it can offer us like the convenience of these models. Most gaming keyboards have important additions, like the n-key rollover so necessary in video games today; while others, in addition to this functionality, convey certain sensations of use that can be a valid reason for a player to justify their purchase. The message is clear: we should get a keyboard that is as comfortable as possible for us.
