The best PC and console controls for less than 50 euros: we will help you choose a good gamepad
For many players the command It’s the main way they exercise their will in the titles they play. Because it’s such an important tool, it’s used almost indiscriminately, and it’s common for controllers to stop working as before and potentially need to be replaced. When that awful moment comes, the richest players will be spoiled for choice a wide range of semi-professional or official equipment, but what about those on a smaller budget? For them we have prepared this buying guide where we are going to list them some of our favorite controllers for less than 50 euros considering the platforms currently available.
Since there is a whole sea of possibilities even with a narrow price range, we have tried to select two models for each current system so that all are reasonably represented. As with any tool, specialization is important, however even more is the functionality. For this reason we have avoided controllers specific or created for a specific title type that avoid being used by other titles on a platform, such as: B. combat pads or controllers prepared to simulate retro consoles that do not respect current standards. Keeping all of this in mind and realizing that declaring a specific controller to be “the best” for its price is very complicated because it is a matter of taste Once we jump from the objective characteristics such as distribution, construction or ergonomics, it only remains to say that we hope that the list that we share below will be to your liking.
Our favorite controllers under our top price
Knowing that the limit of our budget is the above 50 euros, we have decided to select at least two controllers from the main current gaming platforms – with the exception of the PlayStation 5 due to the peculiarities of its controller – to include it among our favorites ; Each controller meets different requirements and has a reason that we will comment on, in addition to indicating which platforms it is compatible with. With this knowledge we can start:
Nacon GC-100XF
The best controller for PC if you don’t care about cables
A simple controller, but very well made, that brings back the Xbox 360 form factor in an almost nostalgic way. It has a rough finish with good buttons and triggers very similar to an official controller. Its weak point is the wired connection and the sensitivity of its levers, which we can easily regulate from the Steam controls or from Windows itself; but there shouldn’t be any problems in the vast majority of applications. Overall this is a good affordable pad.
8bitdo SN30 Pro Plus
The best controller for retro titles on PC
8bitdo has long been making controllers inspired by classic 8-16 bit consoles, always with some kind of modern update to make them workable in other areas, a formula that has led them to this SN30 Pro with some to develop highly recommended models. It is also our favorite among all with a difference. It has excellent construction, very good compatibility and powerful software that can be used for additional functions on PC.
sony dual shock 4 v2
The best controller for PlayStation 4
The only Sony-made controller on this list, the only one we’ve consistently found below our price cap, is the Sony Dualshock 4; a controller that has lost some of its strength after the release of PS5 and its Dual Sense, but it is still the best option to play with symmetric distribution on Sony consoles.
PowerLead controller for PS4
Another asymmetric format in the DualShock 4 line
One of the most quirky entries on our list is this PowerLead controller, as it has a symmetrical distribution with the sticks on top, a distribution we’ve seen in controllers like the old WiiU’s Pro Controller and which particularly favors first-person titles. Otherwise, the controller isn’t badly built and is well below our price point, with PS4 and PC compatibility.
Xbox PowerA controller
One of the best Xbox controllers for under $50
It appeared among our recommended gifts to play under €50. And the thing is, this PowerA controller might rely on its wired connection, but its good construction, additional programmable buttons, and full compatibility with Microsoft platforms make it a very good option for its price.
Xbox One Controller V1
The first version of Microsoft’s fantastic controller
Although it is the first version of the controller created for the Xbox One, it is still natively compatible with all Microsoft consoles and can be used as a controller in Windows 10 without any problems. What it offers is known to all: good construction and an ergonomic design inherited from its previous controllers.
Kingear controller for Nintendo Switch
A delightful controller with very good finishes
We’ve added another member to our recent gift list because it’s one of the options we liked the most as an affordable alternative to the Pro Controller for Nintendo Switch. It’s got good build and finish, as well as full console compatibility, but we did point out that the buttons are a little tightly spaced, which will please small hands, but not so very large ones.
Gamecube style controller for Nintendo Switch
The best option to enjoy GC control outside of official command
To finish off the list, we have this PowerA controller that mimics the original Gamecube’s controls – except for the double-Z button – to provide a similar experience to the cubic console on Nintendo Switch. Its construction is good and its buttons are reminiscent of the original in feel and firmness, although the joysticks feel a little less firm than the original controller.
